COLPOFER
COLPOFER „IRON ROAD TO SECURITY”
The organization was established in 1980 by bringing together railway companies and police forces, creating a European organization called Colpofer (from French: (Collaboration des services de Police ferroviaire et de securite). COLPOFER is an independent body , organizationally operates as a special group of the UIC (International Association of Railways). The main task of railway companies and railway police forces is to protect people and property as well as ensure the safety of railway traffic.
Currently, COLPOFER brings together 30 representatives of the police and railway companies from all sectors (infrastructure, passenger, freight) from 23 countries.
TASKS OF COLPOFER:

- exchange of experience and information as well as methods of preventing and combating crimes in railway areas,
- a common approach to fighting crime in railway areas,
- establishing a task force within COLPOFER dealing with security issues in the countries located on the eastern border of the European Union,
- exchange of information to ensure safety during events of international importance relating to railway areas,
- securing the orders of railway companies and railway police in order to improve safety and ensuring a sense of security for both railway customers and staff,
- securing the orders of other entities involved in or responsible for railway safety.
WORKING GROUPS
One of Colpofer’s tasks is to create working groups. The General Meeting decides on the establishment of working groups to develop specific solutions to solve the increasing criminal phenomena occurring in the railway area.
